Abstract. The research aims to determine the didactic justification for applying the student-centered approach in the process of developing the experience of independent educational activity among cadets of National Guard institutes. The paper provides a theoretical analysis of research in the field of independent educational activity and the application of the student-centered approach in the educational process. The scientific novelty of the research lies in its perspective on the development of independent educational activity experience among cadets through the lens of a student-centered orientation, which ensures variations in the individual trajectory of independent work. The paper also views the student-centered approach as a way to resolve the contradictions between the strict regulation of the learning process in a military institute and the need to develop a creative, initiative, and independent personality. As a result of the theoretical analysis of sources in the field of independent educational activity and the application of the student-centered approach in the educational process, considering the specific features of applying this approach within the framework of developing independent educational activity experience among cadets, we conclude that this approach ensures the flow of subject-subject interaction between teachers and students, allowing for the development of meta-subject competencies, transforming learning into a collaborative research process. The use of the student-centered approach during the preparation and conduct of classes, the organization of independent work among cadets will increase the effectiveness of developing independent educational activity experience and is a qualitative step towards improving the learning process in National Guard institutes.
