Paroemias about women in the system of kinship relations in the Russian and Uzbek languages

Abstract. The paper presents a semantic, quantitative and linguoculturological analysis of paroemias about women in the system of kinship relations of the Russian and Uzbek languages, which makes it possible to explain the differences in behaviour, mental and emotional characteristics of women’s images in different linguistic cultures. Accordingly, the aim of the study is to identify the constant ethno-cultural stereotypes about women in Russian and Uzbek linguistic cultures. The study represents the first attempt to identify and describe the cultural-national specifics of stereotypes based on the material of paroemias from two different-structured unrelated languages, which accounts for the scientific novelty of the study. It has been proved that paroemias verbalising typical situations and notions of different peoples begin to play the role of culture standards or stereotypes, which allows not only gaining insight into the mentality of another ethnic group, but also comparing its inherent understanding of a phenomenon, process, behaviour with the way it is verbalised in another language. As a result of the study, the mechanisms of reflection of the linguistic worldview in the compared languages have been revealed and similarities and differences in the use of these lexemes in the paremiological stock of both languages have been determined.
