Tajik Orchestral Ethno-Instrumentalism in the Context of Cultural Diffusion

Abstract. The article tackles one of the poorly investigated problems of modern musicology - the Tajik ensemble and orchestral ethno-instrumentalism. The analysis from the viewpoint of cultural diffusion has allowed the author to reveal typical features of the Tajik folk instruments functioning against the background of national cultures and subcultures. The paper focuses on identifying peculiarities of the notation system adoption in the Tajik ethno-instrumentalism. The conclusion is made that the repertoire of the first Tajik instrumental ensembles included both academic polyphonic and traditional monophonic compositions.
