Abstract. The article deals with the origin of the Russian ballet theatre tradition formation and its root stages when the attempt to reveal a hero’s inner world on the scene by dance and plastic means was undertaken for the first time. Its founders were the first Russian choreographers of Pushkin era I. I. Valberh and A. P. Glushkovsky, and then the tradition development was organically continued by Sh. L. Didlo and J.-J. Perrot. These choreographers’ work created prerequisites for M. I. Petipa’s reformative activity, the creator of the classics foundation, the symphonization of dance. The Russian ballet’s achievements of these historical periods can be successfully used in modern choreography in the disclosure of "inner person".
