SONATA CYCLIC FORM AND SPECIFICITY OF ITS INTERPRETATION IN F. LISZT’S PIANO CONCERT № 1

Abstract. The article summarizes and clarifies the basic provisions of the sonata cyclic form theory. The author focuses on analysing F. Liszt’s Piano Concert № 1 as a compositional model of the piano concert sonata cyclic form that was widely used by domestic and foreign composers of the XIX-XX centuries. The paper examines the compositional arrangement of the parts and the whole, identifies the components representing invariant features of the sonata form, the attributes of a sonata-symphonic cycle and reveals the means of individualization of the author’s compositional and dramaturgic decision.
