Abstract. The article deals with the problem of artistic education connected with the pedagogical activity of Moscow sculptors. The main part of the scientific article reveals the peculiarity of the methodological approach in creative disciplines teaching. On the basis of the conducted analysis, a conclusion is drawn on the formation of the full-fledged system of masters’ training in sculpture classes in Russia in the XIX century, where there was not only an increase in the number of highly professional sculptors, which made an important creative contribution to the development of national sculpture; this also led to a completely different understanding of the figurative potential of sculpture.
