Inference as a component of auditory reception: Linguistic and didactic aspects of preparing students of a language university for intercultural communication

Abstract. The article is devoted to the study of auditory reception as a form of intercultural interaction with the main emphasis on the consideration of inference as the final product of the listening process. The purpose of the study is to substantiate and describe the role of conclusion in the structure of auditory reception in the context of teaching students of language universities listening as a form of intercultural interaction. The novelty of the article lies in the revision of the traditional approach to understanding inference as an integral component of the listening process. As a result of the study, it was found that inference is a key component of the cognitive process implemented in the mind of the subject – actor of intercultural discourse. The author emphasizes the importance of taking into account the subjective factors influencing the result of auditory perception when developing specific linguistic and didactic strategies that allow students to prepare for full participation in the discursive practices of modern intercultural communication.
