Abstract. The study aims to identify the features of professional competencies formation within the generalised job function "Teaching in Supplementary General Education Programmes" among teachers holding different positions in the field of children’s supplementary education (CSE). The paper describes the approaches to solving the tasks to reach the stated aim. The work shows the results of a theoretical analysis of the extent to which the issue of formation and assessment of professional competencies in CSE teachers has been developed; defines the key concepts of the study, i.e. "generalised job function", "job function", "competence", "competency"; substantiates research methods, describes a computer-oriented case; presents the results of assessing the level of professional competencies formation among CSE teachers holding different positions, which was conducted at the Municipal Autonomous Non-Standard Educational Institution "Palace of Children’s Creativity named after F. I. Avdeeva" of the Urban District "The City of Yakutsk" (PCC); identifies and describes professional deficits of its teaching staff holding different positions; makes recommendations on the development of professional competencies and the elimination of professional deficits. Scientific novelty of the study lies in developing and testing an assessment tool and identifying the features of professional competencies formation among teachers holding different positions. As a result of the study, the researchers have been able to identify the specificity of the professional level of the teaching staff at the PCC, their strengths and professional deficits, to determine the prospects for the development of the personnel potential at the PCC, taking into account the capabilities of the teaching staff themselves.
