Pedagogical Model of Formation of Students’ Motivation to Study Non-Core Disciplines within Contextual University Education

Abstract. The aim of the research is to substantiate theoretically the possibilities of contextual education to increase the motivation of university students to study non-core disciplines. The paper discusses various teaching methods that ensure the contextual nature of the educational process; determines the role and place of these methods in the process of systematic formation of subject motivation. Scientific novelty of the research lies in developing a pedagogical model of formation of students’ motivation to study non-core disciplines within contextual university education. As a result, a set of pedagogical methods aimed at increasing students’ motivation to study non-core disciplines has been determined. Depending on the nature of motivational influence, the methods are conventionally differentiated into the following types: meaning-actualising methods (document analysis, discussion, solving practice-oriented tasks), contextual methods (contextual lectures, role-playing and business simulation games) and reflexive methods (educational research work and scientific research work of students).
