Developing Higher School Students’ Engineering Thinking in the Process of Foreign Language Teaching

Abstract. The article aims to describe the basic trends of developing higher school students’ engineering thinking in the process of foreign language teaching. The author justifies the relevance of systemic engineering thinking in the modern world, argues for the efficiency of the synergetic approach as a methodological basis of engineering thinking development. The basic characteristics of engineering thinking are presented; its development levels are identified. The level characteristics of engineering thinking are shown. Scientific novelty of the study lies in the fact that the author identifies and describes methodological techniques used to improve systemic engineering thinking in the process of foreign language teaching. The findings indicate that the proposed methodology promotes development of systematicity as an essential quality of future specialists’ engineering thinking.
