Mass Media Texts as a Means to Form Foreign Students’ Crosscultural Communicative Competence

Abstract. The research objective includes developing methodology to work with mass media texts within the framework of a profile discipline, a basis for the formation of future crosscultural communication specialists’ professional skills and abilities. The article is written within the problematics of teaching Russian to foreign students with a focus on forming their crosscultural communicative competence. Scientific originality of the paper includes development of methodological recommendations on working with authentic materials with the regional component that broaden the framework of the course program and help students to prepare for further studies within their area of training. In conclusion, the author describes an algorithm of working with texts, substantiates cognitive and linguo-didactic value of news messages.
