INTERTEXTUAL ASPECTS OF FLAMENCO

Abstract. Just from the very beginning of its scenic image formation the flamenco genre was nourished by cantaors’ creative work and occupied a position at the intersection of folklore and author’s original interpretation. But, having achieved the level of the national brand, it could no longer stay within the limits of "somebody else’s word" from its own funds. Being a full participant of the dialogue with West European art, it continues to develop according to the demands of the epoch. The article shows what elements of flamenco function as texts and discovers the role of its artistic interpretation in meaning-generation processes.
