MAURITANIAN STYLE AS IMPLEMENTATION OF SYNTHESIS OF CHRISTIAN AND MUSLIM ARTISTIC TRADITIONS

Abstract. The article is devoted to the problems of Islamic-Christian interaction in the sphere of artistic culture in the Middle Ages. Applying to the historiographic conceptions and artistic monuments of the investigated period the author provides an analysis of historical-geographical and socio-cultural provisions for the origin of the synthetic forms of art in the context of the interaction "East - West". The paper describes their implementation in real artworks, identifies the principles to perceive foreign artistic traditions and to include them into the artistic practices of medieval Maghreb.
