Abstract. The article is devoted to analyzing two related romances op. 34 by S. V. Rachmaninoff with a view to identify micro-cycle features in them. The specific of such compilations in chamber-vocal collections is determined by the semantic ensemble of the word and music. In the romances under study the poetical sources of different authors acquire the quality of integral text. It is revealed in a new way in musical implementation manifesting itself in numerous details of musical language and structure.
