Abstract. The article examines the problem of forming spiritual values among higher school students. The authors believe that studying social disciplines and the humanities should be aimed to actualize spiritual values. The paper identifies shortcomings while organizing the process of teaching social disciplines and the humanities and concludes that students’ orientation to the autonomous search for the value foundations of spiritual development can be based on the modification of the extra-curriculum autonomous work.
