Abstract. The article deals with humanistic ideas and conceptions in Muslim philosophy. The approach of Muslim thinkers to a man as a supreme being among all the other living organisms is examined in this context. The author analyzes the views of the representatives of different schools of Muslim philosophy, according to which a man is actually an image of God, and, consequently, he/she deserves to be plenipotentiary in exercising His will on Earth. A man’s virtuous features are substantiated by the researcher with the help of ontological and gnosiological argumentation. The paper also relies on rationalism in Muslim philosophy, which is opposed not to belief in God, but to its separate conceptions.
