Abstract. The article analyzes music as special sociocultural reality. The author aims to examine the language of music within the framework of the philosophy of music in semiotic aspect. It is shown that the language of music is a systemic object, to which level approach can be applied. The horizontal and vertical levels of the language of music are under analysis. According to the researcher, the language of music includes pitch, rhythmic, compositional and performance levels. The paper examines sound (tone) as a systemic element of the language of music.
