BREAD AND BAKED GOODS IN DIET OF THE NOGAIS OF DAGESTAN IN THE XIX - AT THE BEGINNING OF THE XX CENTURY

Abstract. Sheep and horse breeding prevailed in the economy of the Nogais as nomads but with the transition to a settled way of life the role of agriculture in the economy of the Nogais increased. The settled Nogais became to eat bread and baked goods more often. In the article the author identifies the role of bread and baked goods in the diet of the Nogais. Despite the fact that the Nogais had settled down, nomadic pastoralism still left an imprint on their material culture and everyday life in general.
