Abstract. The article examines the adaptation of the borrowed forms of the Japanese culture in the Russian culture. In this connection the paper investigates the specifics and mechanisms of the process of the adaptation of the Japanese cultural forms under the conditions of the Russian cultural space, as well as the result of this process. The author concludes that under adaptation the element of authenticity of borrowed forms is inevitably lost and the synthesis of new forms characteristics with the peculiarities of local culture takes place, but this process is a natural instrument for enriching cultures under their interaction.
