Abstract. The author considers the problem of transcription art development in modern balalaika artistic performance, tells that one of its features is the performance of the best patterns of domra music; and basing on the comparative analysis of A. Byzov’s domra piece "Sha, Shtil" and the arrangement for balalaika and piano created by one of the most famous representatives of modern folk-instrumental artistic performance A. Gorbachev, not only reveals the features of original musical material transformation typical of the musician, but also shows some achievements in the technique of balalaika playing, which contributed to the transition of transcription art to a new level.
