Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis of approaches to social communication problem comprehension in philosophy history. Comparing the views of the eminent West-European and Russian thinkers of the end of the XIX th – the beginning of the XX th century on communication problem, the author concludes that in spite of the coincidence in the problem formulation time every philosophic tradition solves this problem on the assumption of the priorities formed in it: the West-European existentialism is close to rational analysis, and the Russian existentialism – to beyond-rational comprehension. However, the West-European and Russian thinkers of this period similarly determine communication process priorities: dialogue value and responsibility to "Other".
