The functioning of causal constructions in Church-religious texts

Abstract. This article is an independent part of our research devoted to the implementation of the functional and semantic category of causality in the Russian literary language. The purpose of the study is to identify grammatical, semantic, and communicative–pragmatic features of the use of causal constructions in church and religious texts. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that the use of these linguistic means in religious speech had not been studied before. The textual material for the analysis of this category was mainly only literary texts, which made the idea of its implementation incomplete. The appeal to all other functional styles, including religious speech, fills this gap. The result of the work was the revealed patterns of the choice of these structures in religious communication, their distribution by semantic categories, as well as the implementation of certain communicative tasks by them. It is shown that it is the communicative tasks characteristic of religious interaction of people that determine the choice and use of causal means belonging to certain semantic categories.
