Mind-mapping as a tool for forming linguocultural competence in teaching Russian as a foreign language in a higher education institution

Abstract. The article is devoted to the formation of linguocultural competence among students studying Russian as a foreign language. The authors consider the ways of using the methodology of mind maps in classes with foreign students. The aim of the study is to substantiate the significance of using the mind maps in the educational process on the subject of presenting information in the linguoculturological aspect for students learning Russian as a foreign language. Theoretically and methodologically, the present work is based on the theory of linguistic personality and secondary linguistic personality, as well as on the linguoculturological approach in teaching a non-native language. The scientific novelty of the research consists in analyzing the ways of applying the methodology of making mind-maps when mastering linguistic and linguocultural material in Russian as a foreign language classes. As a result of the study, the recommendations on the compilation of mind maps on the example of the linguocultural concept "Winter" are presented. The high efficiency of this methodology application among foreign students in the development and formation of linguocultural competence is confirmed.
