Abstract. The aim of this study is to identify the subvidema as a new element of the social network discourse, which in the future will allow for a segmented analysis of the polymodal components of the social network discourse. For the first time, the article describes new units of social network discourse – shorts, reels and clips, combined into a single class and nominated as "subvidema". The structural and linguistic features of the subvidema are highlighted and considered, their main functions are determined. The interdiscursive potential of the subvidema and the functioning of shorts, reels and clips in film, Internet and media discourses are considered. The scientific novelty of the study lies in the comprehensive description of the linguistic and pragmatic features of the identified types of subvidema, as well as the terminological differentiation of the phenomena of shorts, reels and clip. As a result of the research, it was found that subvidema is a communicative polymodal pragmatically oriented element of the social network discourse, performing specific functions and possessing certain characteristics. At the same time, the subvidema has a wide interdiscursive potential, which allows shorts, reels and clips to function in different types of discourse (cinema, Internet and media discourse).
