Abstract. The aim of the study is to determine the features of the formation of the names of molluscs, which constitute one of the groups of zoological terminology. In the course of the work, a corpus of malaconyms in the Tatar language was established, changes in the semantics and structure of terms were identified, models of term formation were studied, and the role of borrowings in replenishing malacological terminology was determined. The scientific novelty of the work lies in the fact that for the first time in the Tatar language malaconyms are investigated in a diachronic aspect. Chains of terms that have undergone changes in the course of historical development have been built, which clearly represent the main trends in the development of malacological terminology. Data was obtained on the inclusion of some names of mollusks in the zoological terminology. The conversion model was considered and its specificity in zoological terminology was revealed. Inaccuracies in the names of mollusks recorded in modern publications are indicated. In the course of the study, it was found that in the 20-30s of the XX century, purposeful work began on the selection of names already existing in the language and on the creation of new malaconyms, which contributed to the establishment of models of term formation and the specialization of generic components in complex terms.
Key words and phrases: зоологическая терминология, историческое развитие терминов, малаконимы в татарском языке, образование терминов, конверсионная модель в терминологии, zoological terminology, historical development of terms, malaconyms in the Tatar language, formation of terms, conversion model in terminology
