Islamic Discourse: Problem of Adequate Translation of Religious Texts from Arabian into Russian

Abstract. The paper aims to receive an adequate translation of the sacral (Islamic) text from Arabian into the Russian language. The scientific originality of the research is determined, firstly, by a new approach to identifying the principles of interpretation and translation of Arabian theological texts into the Russian language; secondly, by introducing previously unreported high volume of lexical and textual material into scientific circulation; thirdly, the study applies theological-linguistic expertise of the translations of Koran and Sunna to evaluate the compliance with translation equivalence, usage of language markers in translations considering the cultural-historical specificity of the Arabian language and Islamic realia for the first time. As a result, the study supports the thesis that in order to receive the adequate translation, it is necessary to maintain the model of Islamic discourse of the source text.
