Translation Techniques to Recover Omitted Head of Noun Phrase Substituted by Words Attributed by Infinitive, Based on Material of English-Language Economic Discourse

Abstract. Abstract. The research objectives are as follows: to reveal specificity of ellipsis functioning in the English-language economic discourse, to describe translation techniques to recover the omitted elements. The researcher identifies a new type of ellipsis, argues that the technique used to reconstruct omitted words attributed by the infinitive can be efficiently applied to recover the omitted head of a noun phrase substituted by indefinite quantifying pronouns attributed by the infinitive , and herein lies scientific originality of the study. The research findings are as follows: the author reveals the similarity and diffe¬rence of translation techniques used to recover omitted words attributed by the infinitive and ellipsis of head in the noun phrase substituted by indefinite quantifying pronouns attributed by the infinitive; shows alternative ways to recover omitted nominal element of Nominative-with-the-Infinitive construction; relying on the analysis of English-language economic texts identifies quantifiers compatible with the infinitive.
