Lexico-Semantic Features of Toponymic Nomination in the Russian and Chinese Languages (Comparative Analysis)

Abstract. The paper aims to identify lexico-semantic features of toponymic nomination in the Russian and Chinese languages in a comparative aspect. The author analyses distinctive features of toponyms, ex-amines lexico-semantic features of the Russian and Chinese toponymic nominations. Scientific originality of the study lies in the fact that the researcher for the first time provides a comprehensive lexico-semantic analysis of the Russian and Chinese toponymic units. As a result, it is proved that the Chinese toponyms are figurative and metaphorical, they represent the Chinese people’s aesthetic worldview, whereas the Russian toponyms are associated with concrete facts, persons, reality.
