Colouratives Functioning in Juridical Discourse (by the Material of the English Language)

Abstract. The research objective is as follows: to reveal specificity of colouratives functioning in the English-language juridical discourse. The article identifies lexico-semantic peculiarities of compound legal terms with a colour naming component, taking into account linguistic and sociocultural aspects. The author clarifies special meanings of the terms under study in order to achieve their adequate translation from English into Russian. Scientific originality of the research lies in the fact that the author for the first time examines peculiarities of colouratives functioning in the English-language juridical discourse. The findings indicate prevalence of substantive adjective terms formed by metaphorical transfer. These terms are often translated by means of descriptive-explanatory translation.
