Explicit and Implicit Means to Express Temporality in the Russian and Chinese Languages

Abstract. The article examines explicit and implicit means to express temporality in the Russian and Chinese languages. The research objective includes identifying peculiarities of the means to express temporality in the languages under study. Scientific originality of the paper lies in the fact that the author differentiates explicit and implicit means to express temporality, analyses their semantic and functional peculiarities by the material of the Russian and Chinese languages. The research findings are as follows: the author reveals similarities and differences in the usage of the explicit means expressing temporality in the two languages, identifies universal implicit means to express temporality, which are associated with the notions "human motion", "astronomic motion" and "phenological motion".
