LEXICOGRAPHICAL ANALYSIS OF DIFFERENT TYPES OF DICTIONARIES AS A METHOD OF STUDYING THE MODERN ENGLISH VOCABULARY

Abstract. In the article, the possibilities of the method of the lexicographical analysis of dictionaries of different types in the study of the formal and semantic aspects of vocabulary are demonstrated by the material of the English language. For this purpose, it is shown what dictionary information can be extracted and how it can be interpreted when studying the motivation for varying verbs of the variative paradigmatic format, that is, verbs with varying forms of preterite and past participle, when analysing shifts in the development of new words and meanings, and also when searching for the Russian translation equivalents to the English-language brands.
