COMPETENCE-BASED APPROACH TO TEACHING PROFESSIONAL FOREIGN LANGUAGE TO MASTER’S DEGREE SEEKERS (A CASE STUDY OF ENGLISH-FOR-JOURNALISM COURSE)

Abstract. The article suggests a model of teaching a foreign language for professional purposes (FLPP) within the competence-based paradigm, analyses its principles and components as showcased in the postgraduate course of English for Journalism. The authors argue that successful realization of the competence-based approach presupposes future working practices modelling on the basis of profession-oriented linguo-communicative exercises. In this regard, the paper examines two meaningful components of professional language teaching, analyses their competence potential and arrangement.
