FEATURES OF HUMAN BEHAVIOUR VERBALIZATION IN THE ENGLISH TEXT AND ITS TRANSLATION

Abstract. The article reveals the notion "human behaviour" in terms of its linguistic implementation. During the study, special attention is paid to realizing the concept under consideration at various language levels in the English text and its translation. The text of the novel by the English writer Oscar Wilde "The Picture of Dorian Gray" is used as material for the research. The source text is compared with the target text translated by M. Abkina. The authors come to the conclusion that different-level means of behaviour verbalization help the writer to convey the characters’ traits and reveal the intention of his novel. The results of the study show that the means of behaviour verbalization in the English and Russian languages reflect the main characteristics of the concept under study, and also reveal the peculiarities of the writer’s value-meaning orientations.
