Abstract. The article analyses the influence of the Eastern and Chuvash literary traditions on V. Akhun’s creative work. The research material includes his lyrical and lyro-epical works. Many poems creatively reproduce genres and motives of the Chuvash folklore. It is shown that the poet uses first-person narration, his lyrical hero applies to the ancient Chuvash gods, retells the events of national history in the present. The poems are filled with mythological images: wolf-totem, gods Pikhampar, Ashapatman, etc. Traditions of the Eastern literature in V. Akhun’s creative work manifest themselves through the use of genres, images and motives of the Chuvash folklore, which are actually all-Turkic.
