INFLUENCE OF POLITICAL SITUATION ON THE PERCEPTION OF ANTONIO MACHADO’S POETRY AND IMAGE IN THE RUSSIAN CULTURE (1929-1939)

Abstract. The article contributes to studying the creative work of the Spanish poet of the first half of the XX century Antonio Machado. The authors describe the poet’s image formation in the Russian culture from 1929 - the year of the first publication about Machado in the Soviet periodicals - to 1939 - the year of the poet’s death. The study aims to analyse all the publications concerning Antonio Machado and publications of his poetry in the Soviet press of the mentioned period. A comprehensive analysis of the acquired material allows concluding that the political situation in the country strongly determined the poet’s perception in Russia.
