LINGUO-COGNITIVE ANALYSIS OF ADJECTIVES WITH THE MEANING OF HIGH TEMPERATURE IN THE BURYAT LANGUAGE (IN COMPARISON WITH THE RUSSIAN EQUIVALENTS)

Abstract. The article analyses the Buryat adjectives with the meaning of high temperature халуун ("hot, ardent, sultry") and дулаан/б?леэн ("warm") in comparison with their Russian equivalents. The findings indicate that semantics of the word халуун includes the meanings of all the three words, and insignificant differences affect the sphere of figurative usage. The adjectives дулаан and б?леэн differ cardinally in their compatibility: дулаан refers to solid and gaseous objects, and б?леэн - to liquid ones, with a few exceptions. The adjective б?леэн has no figurative meaning, which indicates its high-level pragmatic specialization.
