PARENTHETICAL INSERTIONS IN AN ENGLISH LITERARY FAIRY TALE TEXT AS A LINGUISTIC MEANS OF EXPRESSIVENESS AND EMOTIVITY

Abstract. The article analyzes parenthetical insertions use in an English literary fairy tale from the perspective of their expressive and emotive characteristics. The issue of terminology and parenthetical insertions classification is considered. The authors present a quantitative and qualitative analysis of parenthetical elements functioning in a fairy-tale text. An opinion is expressed that multifunctional constructive parentheses containing an assessment, additions and comments are the writer’s "voice", extrapolation of his/her figurative perception. The use of parenthetical insertions makes it possible to unfold the multifaceted character of a fairy tale.
