Abstract. The article is devoted to the comparative study of the linguistic and culturological meaning of some Russian and French phraseological units, whose semantic structure contains such cultural markers as superstitious and popular beliefs. Proceeding from the dual - linguistic and culturological - nature of the phraseological sign, the author draws special attention to the need to analyze the internal form of phraseological units of different languages when comparing them with the purpose of ascertaining an interlingual phraseological equivalent.
