Abstract. The article deals with the peculiarities of phonetic interference as a special rhetorical device in BBC World News aimed at the global audience. The differences from manifestations of phonetic interference in the national BBC news programmes are emphasized. The author conducts the analysis of the material from the perspective of cognitive syllabics.
