POLYSEMY OF COLORONYMS "WHITE" AND "BLACK" IN THE ENGLISH, GERMAN, RUSSIAN AND UKRAINIAN LANGUAGES

Abstract. In the article the coloronyms "white", "black" are examined in the comparative aspect by the material of English, German, Russian and Ukrainian. The paper identifies lexical-semantic variants of these coloronyms; their level of polysemy is determined; phraseological units that contain the lexemes "white", "black" are analyzed. The main focus is on identifying common and distinctive features of the semantics of these coloronyms, as well as on contrasting phraseological units with the coloronym component in four languages under study.
