THE LANGUAGE OF FINANCE: BORROWING, TRANSLATION, CODESWITCHING?

Abstract. The article investigates how the English language influences the rate and properties of loanwords in the terminology of finance. The author provides an overview of translation techniques in the sphere and takes into consideration the concept of codeswitching, a tool used by some professionals to identify themselves as members of the community. The question why loanwords are so common in the terminology of finance is answered through quantitative and qualitative analysis.
