DETERMINOLOGIZATION AS AN ELEMENT OF LINGUISTIC CREATIVITY: TERMS-EPONYMS IN THE ENGLISH POPULAR SCIENCE DISCOURSE

Abstract. The article examines the peculiarities of realizing terms-eponyms functioning in the English popular science discourse. Special attention is paid to the stratification of the chosen determinologized terms-eponyms. The authors argue that terms-eponyms appear as a result of determinologization of the English technical terminology, and analyze the specificity of their functioning in popular science discourse as an element of linguistic creativity.
