THE REALIZATION OF SOME ASPECTS OF H. LEFEBVRE’S MODEL IN THE TRANSLATION OF LITERARY TEXTS

Abstract. The article deals with some aspects of the model of literary translation proposed by H. Lefebvre and their realization by the example of translations of J. Steinbeck’s works from English into Russian. The analysis of D. Steinbeck’s translations carried out in the light of H. Lefebvre’s literary translation model shows that the relationship between the works of J. Steinbeck and the receiving domestic literature during the 1940-2000s sometimes assumed the complicated and ambiguous nature. The results of the research allow concluding that the demand for J. Steinbeck’s creativity in the Russian literature was in direct relation to how much his works corresponded to the ideological, political and aesthetic requirements of the society at that stage of development.
