Abstract. The article discusses the study of phonosymbolism in poetic texts (by the example of works by A. S. Pushkin, N. M. Karamzin, V. A. Zhukovsky, etc.), much attention is paid to synesthetic relations "sound - meaning". The author pays attention not only to overall methods of creating expression, but also to the sound features of the works of each writer separately. It is shown that the sounds have diverse prosodic characteristics. Different sounds in the poems can cause various associations and physical and psychological sensations among people.
