ON NATIONAL-CULTURAL SPECIFICITY OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE POLITICAL DISCOURSE (BY THE EXAMPLE OF THE ENGLISH POLITICAL DISCOURSE)

Abstract. The article reveals the notion of discourse and discusses the various interpretations of this notion, as well as the features characterizing political discourse, regardless of the speaker’s nationality. The author provides the answer to the question how national and cultural specifics can be revealed in the political discourse. The paper determines some specific features of the national character of the British and those concepts, which can be called the key ones to the understanding of the English culture. The study provides the analysis of several speeches by modern political leaders who are British by nationality, and highlights the features unique to the British.
