SPECIFICS OF EUPHEMISM USAGE IN THE RUSSIAN FASHION MAGAZINES

Abstract. The article examines the specifics of euphemism usage in fashion magazines of the two categories: premium and mass-market. Mentioning the differences in information presentation between premium and mass-market editions the author identifies the common for both edition types sphere of euphemization ("ageing", "excessive weight") and analyzes euphemisms used in each category of magazines. The paper emphasizes the fact that usage of certain euphemisms in fashion publications is predetermined by such phenomenon as commercial correctness.
