IRANIAN LANGUAGE POLICY IN THE SECOND DECADE OF THE XXI CENTURY: TRADITIONS AND INNOVATIONS

Abstract. The article analyzes the basic, from the author’s viewpoint, trends of language policy implemented by the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the second decade of the XXI century. Language policy is considered as an important component of cultural policy, and the Persian language - against the background of its interrelations with national languages and cultures existing on the country’s territory. Special attention is paid to the international aspect of language policy, completely new phenomenon in post-revolutionary Iran, and to the problem "Iran and West" as the important components of the popular among the Iranian power structures policy of "soft power".
