ON SPECIFICS OF TRANSLATING POST-MODERNISTIC LITERARY TEXTS (BY THE MATERIAL OF A. BYATT’S WORKS AND THEIR RUSSIAN TRANSLATIONS)

Abstract. The article is devoted to the problem of transferring inter-textual relations when translating post-modernistic texts since just intertextuality is a meaning-formative mechanism in post-modernistic literature. The translation of post-modernistic texts is a complicated task involving, on the one hand, identification of the texts with which the original text holds the "inter-textual dialogue", and, on the other hand, finding the means to reproduce this dialogue in the translated text. The paper aims to identify and describe translation strategies used by the translators to reconstruct the inter-textual space of the original text.
