Abstract. The article is devoted to the examination of legal text perception with the help of "reciprocal text" method, developed by A. I. Novikov. According to this method the consciousness of a recipient generates its own "reciprocal text" throughout the process of text understanding. The paper describes the experiment conducted using the "reciprocal text" method. The examinees’ verbalized reactions are analyzed using fifteen kinds of reactions allocated by A. I. Novikov. One more kind of reaction - guessing and combined reactions are added by the authors in the course of the analysis, and the examples are given. The entire set of reactions that constitute the "reciprocal text" is analyzed from the point of view of the text impact on the recipient. It is concluded, that "counter-text" of disagreement is found inside the "reciprocal text" of the recipient, thus confirming the opinion of N. P. Peshkova.
