ELLIPSIS IN THE TITLES OF THE ENGLISH MASS MEDIA AND THE PECULIARITIES OF ITS TRANSLATION INTO THE RUSSIAN LANGUAGE

Abstract. This article considers the most frequently used types of ellipsis in the titles of the English newspaper-journalistic texts. The article presents an analysis of the results of the respondents’ survey about their perception of ellipsis. All the statements are confirmed by the given quotations. The author identifies such reasons for using this device as the achievement of brevity, laconism, maximum clarity, the transfer of themes, problems and main idea of the article.
